The one-ton armoured truck of the FV1600 series: about 1,700 built, 4.93 m long, 2.04 m wide and 2.12 m high, with a Rolls-Royce B60 six of 120 hp, 40 mph and 250 miles, two crew and six passengers. The Mk 1 weighed 10,500 lb and the Mk 2, rearmoured, 14,300 lb.

The record
The Pig was a 1950s design that found its war twenty years later. It went to the Royal Ulster Constabulary in late 1958 and became the most recognisable British vehicle of the Northern Ireland troubles after the Mk 2 rearmouring of the 1970s added protection and heavy bull bars for breaching barricades. Local variants followed: the Flying Pig with riot screens, the Kremlin Pig with wire screening against rocket-propelled grenades, and the Foaming Pig with a blast-diffusing foam system. British service ran into the early 1990s. Humber built them with Joseph Sankey & Sons of GKN and the Royal Ordnance Factories.
