The record
Australia’s Button car plan of 1984 required model-sharing between makers, and Ford took the Patrol GQ as the Maverick from February 1988 to 1994, with the TB42 petrol and TD42 diesel sixes, coil springs all round and a five-speed gearbox, in XL and GLX wagons and a cab-chassis. It was Ford Australia’s only serious four-wheel drive between the Bronco and the Everest, and the Patrol continued after the sharing ended.
