Daihatsu Rugger, Fourtrak and Rocky F70 chassis numbers

Daihatsu identifies its 4x4s by the frame number on the chassis plate and the frame: the model code (F10, F20, F50, F60 for the Taft; F70, F75, F73, F77, F78 for the Rugger; F300, F310 for the Rocky) followed by a sequential serial, with the model code also on the plate as the full type (F70LV, F75LV-MB…); export vehicles from 1981 carry the seventeen-digit VIN under the JDA WMI (Daihatsu, Japan), and Indonesian-built vehicles under Astra Daihatsu’s MHK WMI. The chassis plate on the bulkhead under the bonnet; the frame number stamped on the right chassis rail near the front spring hanger (Taft, Rugger) or the front cross-member (F300).

How to read it

1974–2002 (Japan)Model code + serial: F10/F20/F50/F60, F70/F75 (F73/F77/F78 after 1992), F300/F310 followed by a six-digit serial; the plate carries the full type code with body and transmission suffixes.
