The record
Work on the Cross Sector Platform — a spaceframe chassis designed and built at Belper to carry several vehicles — began in 2016, and the Bulldog of 2017 was its first application, after three years' development. Modified Range Rover Sport subframes carry all-independent suspension, and the engine is the Range Rover Sport's 3.0-litre TDV6 diesel for rally raid or its 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol for road use, both with the eight-speed ZF automatic; Bonhams records an unrestricted TDV6 with Gripper limited-slip differentials, hydraulic jacks and underbody protection. Supercharged 5.0-litre V8 NR1 versions were also built.
Bulldogs ran in the British championship, the Tuareg Rally and the Morocco Desert Challenge. A Desert-spec car of 2023 with a 225-litre fuel cell, sold in 2025, was described as the penultimate Bulldog and the last in rally raid specification; the Belper factory was wound up at the end of 2024.
