The Army’s five-ton truck of the 1980s: the M939 series built by AM General at South Bend from 1982, a rebuild of the M809 with an automatic gearbox, air brakes and a new cab, in the M923 and M925 cargo, M929 dump, M931 tractor and M936 wrecker versions with the Cummins NHC-250 diesel; BMY built the later A2s.
