The record

The M1114 was built in small numbers for military police and special forces before 2003, when roadside bombs in Iraq made armour the first requirement and production rose steeply; the ECVs of 2005 onwards carried the weight properly. The armour drove up the weight and hurt mobility, which was the case for the MRAPs and eventually the JLTV.
