The AR-55 was the last change of design — every Zastava Campagnola after it was built on the same car — and it served the JNA into the 1990s. From the initials it earned the nickname Aerka. Serbia's own AR series is the reason Zastava is a marque here rather than a line under Fiat: the works held two separate licences, Willys from 1953 and Fiat from 1955, numbered its vehicles its own way, and went on to build trucks of its own design from 1961.
