SandCat, first generation (2004–08)

The first SandCat: a Ford F350 shortened to a 2,946 mm wheelbase, or an F450, carrying a composite armoured capsule. Designed in 2004 by Nir Kahn around a four-man crew and about four tonnes gross, revised after early trials to roughly five tonnes and four or five men.

The record

It was shown publicly at AUSA in October 2005 and was first called Caracal; the SandCat name had been adopted by Eurosatory in 2006. Sweden took a small number in 2008 as an eight-seat station wagon for police and SWAT work.
