The record

The Bundeswehr wanted something cheap, simple and repairable; the two-stroke triple had three moving parts where a four-stroke had dozens, and the eight-speed gearbox gave it low enough gearing without a separate transfer case in the usual sense. It served until the Iltis replaced it.
