The Canadian Iltis: built under licence by Bombardier at Valcourt, Quebec. Canada ordered 2,500 for the Canadian Forces and Bombardier supplied 2,673 to the Belgian Land Component; Ottawa bought a further 600 under a C$15 million contract in 1985.

Bombardier production stopped by 1986. The Canadian cars served into the 1990s and many were sold into civilian hands afterwards, which is why more Iltises survive in Canada than in Germany.
