Italy's licence-built Carden-Loyd Mark VI, the Carro Veloce 29: four were bought from Britain in 1929 and twenty-one built in Italy by Fiat and Ansaldo in 1929–30, with wider tracks and an Italian machine gun.

The record

The CV-29 kept the Ford Model T engine and served as a machine-gun carrier accompanying infantry, with a top speed of 25 mph. Sources give 21 or 25 Italian-built vehicles; History of War settles on 21. Fiat and Ansaldo developed it into the CV-33 (L3/33) of 1933, the basis of Italy's tankettes of the Second World War, which lie outside the registry.
