The record

Walter Ruf founded Mowag Motorwagenfabrik AG at Kreuzlingen in 1950 to develop specialised vehicles. The T1 gave the company the volume it needed and set the pattern for everything after it: a Swiss Army requirement, met by a purpose-built vehicle rather than a converted civilian one.
