Pajero III and IV (1999–2021)

The monocoque Pajeros: the third generation of 1999 with a unibody built around an integrated ladder frame, Super Select 4WD II with planetary gears and a low range, and the fourth of September 2006, built until March 2021 — the end of a line that sold more than 3.3 million in thirty-nine years.

The record

The third generation kept low-range gearing and a centre-differential lock inside a monocoque, which is why it is in the registry where most 2000s SUVs are not; the fourth carried on almost unchanged for fifteen years, latterly for the Gulf, Australia and Japan, and ended in March 2021 when Mitsubishi closed the Sakahogi plant.

AI rendering impression

An AI rendering impression starts from a 3D model of this vehicle, which an image model then paints into a scene. It is an artist's impression of the type, made to give a feel for the vehicle in its element — not a photograph, and not a record of any particular vehicle.

Proportions, fittings, markings, colours and the setting can all drift from the original in the process. For the vehicle's actual details, rely on the specification, the photographs and the cited sources on this page.
