Where to find it

VIN: as on the 110 — behind the left-hand front corner of the windscreen, on the brake-pedal-box plate and stamped on the right-hand chassis rail forward of the front spring turret. ARN: painted on the bonnet and tailgate, and on the Army registration plate.

VIN: SAL LD, class letter (110 for the 4×4; the 6×6 is read as M = special/6×6 Perentie by the decoders), body letter, engine Z = 3.9 Isuzu 4BD1 (the turbocharged 4BD1-T on the 6×6 and later 4×4s), transmission digit, model-year letter (E = 1988 … N = 1996), plant Y = Australia, six-digit serial. ARN: the Australian Army's own six-digit registration, assigned in blocks by contract and type and recorded in the registration ledgers with the make, type, engine number and chassis number.
