The Bronco returned in June 2021 after 25 years as a body-on-frame off-roader against the Wrangler: removable doors and roof, independent front suspension and a solid rear axle, the 2.3-litre EcoBoost four and 2.7-litre V6, a seven-speed manual, G.O.A.T. terrain modes and the Sasquatch 35-inch-tyre package, in two-door (100.4-inch) and four-door (116.1-inch) bodies, built at Wayne and, for China, Nanchang.

The record
Ford announced the Bronco’s return in 2017 and showed it in July 2020 on the T6 Ranger platform with its own frame, coil-sprung solid rear axle and independent front. Trims run Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands and (to 2024) Wildtrak, with the First Edition of 2021, Everglades and Raptor of 2022 (3.0-litre V6, 400 hp, 37-inch tyres) and the Heritage and Stroppe editions since. The first production Bronco sold at auction for $1,075,000 for charity in March 2021; about 15 per cent take the manual gearbox. The Bronco Sport is a crossover and outside this registry.
