The record

Ford answered the K5 Blazer with a Bronco cut from the sixth-generation F-Series: a 104-inch wheelbase, a solid front axle on leaf springs, the 351M or 400 V8 with a four-speed manual or C6 automatic, and a fibreglass rear roof that lifted off. Custom and Ranger XLT trims and the Free-Wheelin’ stripe package were offered. Delayed from 1974 by the fuel crisis, it sold 181,955 in 1978–79.
