The record
Prototypes ran in 1939 but the weight defeated the transmission and service entry waited until mid-1941. The Mk I CS carried a 76 mm close-support gun; the Mk II had a better turret, gun mount and radiator and a driver’s escape hatch; and the turretless command version was known as the SOD, the Sawn-Off Daimler.
