The record

Aktiv-Fischer built about 2,265 in Sweden between 1957 and 1981, with more made in Scotland — over 2,300 in all. Production stopped when Volkswagen ended European production of the engine, which left nothing to put in it. The Snow Trac went to NATO forces and the Royal Marines through the Cold War, to Antarctic research organisations including ANARE, and to utilities across North America.
