The big Trooper: the second generation of 1991 with the 3.1 and later 3.0 diesels and the 3.2 and 3.5-litre V6s (up to 215 hp), five-door from launch and three-door from March 1992, sold as the Holden Jackaroo and Monterey, the Opel and Vauxhall Monterey, the Honda Horizon, the Acura SLX and the Chevrolet Trooper; ended in 2002.

The record

The second Trooper was a full-size rival to the Land Cruiser and Pajero and sold widely in Europe and Australia; a 1996 Consumer Reports rollover verdict damaged its American reputation and Isuzu lost the lawsuit that followed. The D-Max and MU-X took Isuzu’s four-wheel-drive line after 2002.
